Happy Halloween! I put out 700 pieces of candy in a basket on the porch, and thank goodness they were all gone. Lots
of trick or treaters in this neighborhood. Lots of spooky decorations - the neighbors with the cemetery decor and the
Trump sign were particularly scary.
In normal times, the election on Tuesday would go off without a hitch. I have much concern that this year will continue to be a clusterfuck. I volunteered again with Common Cause as an Election Protection poll watcher. I did it in 2016 out in Buckeye. I watched outside the early voting poll site here in Port Jervis today and will go back tomorrow and Tuesday. We make sure people know where to go, can look up to make sure they're registered, hook them up with legal counsel if they are denied the chance to vote and watch out for voter intimidation efforts. It's a non-partison group, so I had to take off my #CatsAgainstTrump button.
Travel bans still in effect. Can't go to France. Can barely go to New Jersey at this point.

A belated YAY DODGERS!

This has been a very weird (and short) baseball season. I'll be rooting for the Dodgers in the World Series, because
the thought of cheering for the Rays makes me gag.
I binge watched Emily in Paris on Netflix today. I miss Paris. Can you be homesick for somewhere that isn't your home?

It's Fall! Mom and I did a mini-roadtrip today (my day off) to look at the trees. It's gorgeous out today.
My 26th weekly Covid test was negative. I've still got lingering headaches, fatigue, muscle aches etc. There's really nothing I can do to treat it, except take it easy. Now that I'm re-insured (and I hate that insurance is tied to one's employment), I had my labs done (normal except for the triglycerides, which are through the roof), saw my doc and had my mail order meds set up. Next week will be the gyn, dentist and eye doctor. I'm not excited about the dentist, since I can see at least two small cavities with my own eyes. Oof.
I'm doing a training class tonight for Common Cause. I volunteered with them as a poll volunteer in 2016 - answering questions about voting at the polls, making sure people are at the right polling location etc - and really enjoyed it. This year will be just as tense, I'm sure.

Schadenfreude. Covid is spreading through the White House, the President is in the hospital, and I do not feel
one slice of empathy for him. He ignored all the scientists and the warnings and the evidenced, and more than
200,000 Americans have died. Our country is a laughingstock around the world. I hope he has the same lingering
after-effects that many of us have, and that he survives to lose the election and go to prison for a long time.
On a non-political note, foster baby Wotan, my one-eyed blind kitten, is doing well. He's decided he wants to stay here with me. Marvin is undecided on keeping this little fluffball.
