10/29/16
Our nursing team did fantastic in this week's corporate survey. I'm so proud of our team.

Being on the management side, I have three-day weekends coming up for Christmas and New Year's. I kind of want to go up north for one of them. You know, actually wear a sweater this year. It's the end of October and it's been over 90 most of the month. Historic high temps. I had to turn the air conditioning back on this week for a few days. Meanwhile, it snowed in PA. I told Mom there better not be any snow when I go home next month for Thanksgiving. I might go into shock.

10/25/16
Cubs/Indians. I honestly care equally about both teams, and it will be historic no matter who wins... so I guess I'll just stick with enjoying the games for baseball's sake.

I zip-tied the tarp roof of the catio to its frame, and I think that'll solve the escape artist trend. I figure I'll leave the flap part unlocked because I don't want them to open it and get trapped outside.

10/18/16
Frank figured out how to push his way through the cat flap even when it's locked. I found him outside the catio on the wall between my house and my neighbor's, which means he also got out of the catio! Gotta fix that.

10/16/16
The catio is amazing. Marvin, Frank, Cricket and Jenny especially love it. It took some tweaking to build the bridge from the window flap to the kennel, but it's all done and looks great. I put a shelf up for them to lounge on, and an outdoor rug. Super cozy, if you're a cat. My hands are killing me - even with work gloves, cutting the chicken wire to make the bridge was a bitch.

10/14/16
My Maricopa Country early voting ballot arrived today. Party line, baby.

10/13/16
No fracture!

10/12/16
No xray result yet, which most likely means it isn't broken. My hand is feeling better today.

The outdoor kennel for my catio was delivered - but with my hand hurting I'm going to wait til the weekend or next week to assemble it.

10/11/16
Sunday night, I managed to bash my right hand into the doorknob as I was bringing in the groceries. It hurts like the devil. I wrapped it and iced it but it was still swollen today, and a little bruised. called my PCP this morning and she was able to see me and write an xrau script. Benefits of having my doctor linked to work - her office is on our campus. So I had the xray done after work and will see what it shows. I doubt I broke anything, but still - better safe than sorry, especially when my ability to give people the finger is involved.

Can't wait til this very-un-presidential campaign season is over. That's all I have to say about it.

10/7/16
This entire week has felt super productive to me. I got so much done at work - my boss complimented me on how well I'm doing (rare praise indeed) and one of the nurse practitioners thanked me for helping him so much during the week.

I finally got my ass in gear to build the catio (so Marvin can stop sneaking out the patio door when I go outside). I've got the window flap put in, and am waiting for the kennel for outside to be delivered (should be here Monday). Then Eve and I are going to go to Lowe's or Home Depot to MacGuyer a bridge between the two, and get some shelf/cat bed stuff. If it all works out, I may splurge and build a similar off the master bedroom, so the scaredy cats (the ones Marvin terrorizes) can get some fresh air, too.

Community Paws - our local rescue/education group - is having the annual Fall fundraiser on November 12th. My friend Sarah, who runs it, asked if I'd put together and manage a cat table. She'd asked me in the past but I hadn't been able to because of my work schedule. Now that I have weekends off, I absolutely agreed! I ordered a bunch of posters and advocacy/TNR info fliers and cards from Alley Cat Allies and I'm going to put together info folders. My friend Melanee, who catsits and rescues strays too, is going to man the booth with me. Super excited.

So yes! Overall, a great week!

10/1/16
I thought we were done with the heat, but I was wrong. I had the AC off for a few days, but then we got a late-September hot flash, so I turned it back on. Trying again today. Tomorrow we're supposed to get rain, and then maybe it'll be cooler. The kitties - Marvin especially - love the open windows. He's practically salivating on the screens. Keep up the attitude, Marvin, and I'll let you out.
