11/21/03
I'm still here - just too busy to really update the site.

11/14/03
Is it really Friday? I worked last night and didn't get out until midnight because we took a patient up to ICU at 11, and then I had to get everything else finished. Plus I brought in a box of old Xmas ornaments for Malou, so I had to wait for her to get report for the night shift before we ran down to the car to get it.

I had planned to get up today, vacuum my rug, and go see Master and Commander, then go and meet Tesse at Marie's after the movie. Well, instead, I ended up sleeping all day. Literally. I would wake up every couple of hours and decide to go back to sleep. Sometime around 7pm, I discovered Merry under the covers with me, and Sheeba and Pippin giving each other baths to my right. Too cute. I got up and had dinner, and then came back to bed to read. Mom woke me up again at 9ish, and we went to the last showing of the movie. Loved it, and I could never live on a ship - too much water, cold, and general queasiness. Oh and there was a preview for Return of the King, one more month til the Hobbits return.

Wal-Mart is a dangerous place when I'm in "retail therapy" mode. I got sucked into the holiday section, where I decided that what I really needed was to build my own holiday village from their collection. So I bought all of these adorable houses, trees, shops etc, and now I have a town to play god with. It has a pub, an opera house and a bookstore - in short, the town I am going to move to when I leave NJ.

Oh, and it all lights up. Now all I need is a model of Minas Tirith or the Shire or something so I can wage war. I feel like I'm 12.

Six weeks til Return of the King - I can't wait.

11/9/03
Well, I solved the getting-to-Trenton-by-10am thing by sleeping through my alarm clock and missing it completely. Which sucked for NJNS, but was good for my health. After napping on and off all afternoon yesterday, I went to the city to see JRB and Lauren Kennedy in a concert of The Last Five Years - which was stunning. Went to Marie's afterwards and stayed out way too late.

Today I did a repeat of yesterday and slept til noon. Mom and I went to IKEA this afternoon under the pretense of looking at some Christmas decorations, and actually walked out without buying any furniture. Now there's a first. And tonight we went to see Love, Actually, which I loved, actually. All of my favorite actors in one movie? I'm so there.

Poor kitties. We took Sheeba and the kittens to - euphemistically speaking - have their nails done. Merry and Pippin also had a tummy tuck. They're all moping around looking miserable, while Mimi just gloats.

We spent the two clinical days this week in the clinic at Perth Amboy. I love the pace - so fast, never a moment to sit down. That's what I want. And I got to use all of my Spanish (and make some up, I'm sure) since most of the patients spoke little or no English at all. It really was a lot of fun there.

And tonight I got to dress up for the NJ League for Nursing gala - black tie, snazzy decor and door prizes (of which our table - the NJNS gang - won zero), great food and a super DJ. It was fun to hang out with the board members outside of our meetings, and we all moaned and groaned that we have to be in Trenton at 10am tomorrow for the next meeting. Too far to drive, too early. I was going to head to Marie's in my black dress and coat, but I was so tired after the gala that I came home and I'm just going to go to bed.

This "tired" thing is getting old. I came home from school today and fell right back asleep until 7pm. Maybe it was the instructor (not the most thrilling presentation style) or maybe I'm just anemic.

DC was great this weekend. The weather was more summer-y than summer was. We took Tesse's minivan and my convertible, and I had the top down the entire way. We made excellent time and stopped at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore to do some shopping there. I was happy - found some holiday presents for people on my list, and it was just stunning out.

We saw Bounce at the Kennedy Center on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, had great sushi for dinner, a super-cheap brunch, and great dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (including a lazy-susan type deal of shared cheesecake for dessert, it's great to travel with six other cheesecake lovers), and did some more shopping in Georgetown on Sunday before the show. I need to spend more time shopping there, so many great little stores. Next time, I'll have to leave more free time in my schedule.

Next time, I need to take a vacation to a beach where I can sit and do nothing. All of my vacations tend to be to cities where I never get to relax. A nice beach trip sounds lovely.
