The older I get, the further away "old" seems to be. I'm 40. Doesn't feel old to me.

Best present ever is having Eve and Mark and the boys out here.

later on 6/27/14
Mark drives like a maniac! A maniac trapped in the car with two young, hyper boys, that is. He called while we were out shopping to say he'd be in Buckeye by 9pm! So we wrapped up our pillow-and-shower-curtain shopping, and hurried home, got back to her house about fifteen minutes before they arrived. William and Chris were super-excited about the house, and ran around looking in every room. And despite being exhausted, Mark valiantly changed all of the smoke detector batteries (we were planning on it, but you know...). And now - I go to bed! Working the weekend.

6/27/14
Except for Eve missing her original flight and having to catch a later one, her trip out here was fairly uneventful. After we tucked her bunnies in (I had already set up a bunny-cage for them at the new house), she stayed overnight with me. Mark and the boys are en route - somewhere in Oklahoma, last we heard.

6/24/14
Oh it really has been forever since I wrote anything!

My boss was on vacation last week, so I worked most of it. And this week, I arranged to take Friday off in exchange for working tomorow, so I haven't really had a "weekend" in a while. Eve and Mark waved goodbye to their moving truck yesterday. Mark and the boys are driving out, starting tomorrow, and Eve flies out Thurs. Thurs and Fri are going to be our grocery/Costco days, since she won't have a car until Mark gets here.

Dad is all set to move to Costa Rica next month. I want to go visit, but not during the rainy season! So I'll try to get down there in the winter, depending on finances.

I'm feeling slug-like today. I fell asleep by 11pm last night, woke up at 4am, and tossed and turned til now (10am). I would still be sleeping, but Eve's landlord called that the locksmith was doing the new mailbox keys, so I ran up to pick them up. Trying to decide if I want to go out, hit the store, cook something, get a massage, see the Jersey Boys movie... or if I want to just go back to bed.

The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Oh - four more days of my thirties. Eep.

6/10/14
Of course, I took one look at the 110 degree weather forecast, and spent the afternoon napping instead of going to the book signing. Much more productive.

Eve is set to fly out on the 26th (with the two bunnies)! Yay! Her future house is full of boxes of books, and it'll only get fuller and more house-like when the big truck o' stuff arrives (tentatively July 1st). Mark and the boys will be driving out, date TBD. I'm as excited as she is for the move.

6/9/14
Heat wave! Well, to be honest, it IS Phoenix in June.

Diana Gabaldon's latest book in the Outlander series comes out tomorrow (technically it'll be on my Kindle at midnight). She's doing a talk/signing at the Biltmore, I'm planning to go. I met her at a similar event at the Tucson Festival of Books in 2011, right after I moved here - her talks are a hoot. My mid-week weekend is tomorrow and Wednesday this week, so hopefully I can make loads of progress on my re-read of the series (I'm on the last book now) so I can dig into the new one.

6/4/14
I have the keys to Eve and Mark's rental house! I love it. There are fourteen boxes of books en route to me via media mail, and I have a pile of things Eve picked up when she was here. I had to go to work after getting the keys, so I'll bring that stuff over on my next day off.
