I filled up the birdfeeder, and the cats are going nuts watching through the window. That's all the news from here.

1/24/13
They decided not to use our story on this segment, which is fine, because it's like 7 degrees in NYC. But they said they may use it in the near future, which would be fine, because hopefully the cold snap will pass. It's chilly in Phoenix today - and rainy. My friend Peter is in Phoenix this weekend so we're going to do dinner on Saturday (I took off from work in the event that I had to go to NY). My friend Rob from NY is also in Phoenix this weekend (popular weekend I guess) so we might go out tomorrow night.

Dr. Feldman and I also did a phone interview this week for a Canadian radio station about Munchausen by Internet - take a listen.

I woke up with a sore throat and all four cats in the bed. I blame (and thank) the rain. I feel better now that I've stretched, showered, and had some caffeine.

1/22/13
So, long story short: since this "football player with a dead girlfriend" reminds people of the "girl we knew who faked being in a coma" story, there's been talk of the similarities. And Dr. Feldman, who is the expert on Munchausen by Internet, has been trying to get media attention on this psych disorder, and the timing has worked out. We're going to be on a nationally-syndicated talk show THIS FRIDAY to discuss the case.

They tape in NY and are picking up the airfare. I am packing my snow boots. Waiting for the producer to call back with final details so I can call the catsitter.

Uh, and the host is someone I have a super crush on, even tho he's gay and spends his time in war-torn countries, if that gives you a hint.

I don't want to speak too soon, but I think winter is over. It's 73, I have windows open. Lovely. Irene and I managed to get the lights down in about ten minutes - much faster than putting them up!

1/17/13
I bought the 25th anniversary Les Miz concert from amazon.com (tired of watching my DVR copy with the PBS breaks), and got a free ticket to see the movie. Maybe I'll go again tomorrow, or next week, and see if I like it any better. I also still have a free movie pass from Harkins from when the projector died, so I could see any other movie. Thinking.

Tomorrow the Christmas lights come down. I borrowed cousin Chris's ladder today, so tomorrow I'll get on that.

1/16/13
I never had any kind of reaction to my annual flu shot until this year. My arm got red and hard to the touch at the injection site, and I have this headache/sore throat combo going on. Not entirely sure if the sore throat is related to the flu shot, but the timing is uncanny. Of course, 90% of our residents at work are either coughing or wheezing, so there's that.

1/11/13
Irene and I went to the Phoenix Art Museum (love) to see a documentary about a photographer named Gregory Crewdson. So we're watching, and I'm thinking, "boy, this landscape looks familiar," and it turns out that he does most of his photography in Pittsfield and Lee, MA. Of course, as soon as it was over, I called Jen to tell her. She's heard of him because she used to work at the Berkshire Museum - small world! They were setting up one of his crazy elaborate photos on North St., and I was like, "I was just there two months ago." Very enjoyable. I love our museum - it's the perfect size to not get overwhelmed.

1/10/13
I think my burst of energy yesterday did me in. I am so unmotivated to do anything today. I managed to go get my nails and brows done, and made some tuna noodle casserole, and now I'm just passed out on the couch with a book.

The worst cold snap Phoenix has seen in 30 years is headed our way by Saturday morning. Of course it is.

1/9/13
Busy day off. Instead of coming home and going to sleep, I cleaned (a bit), did laundry and dishes, went to the bookstore and Pier 1, took down the tree and put all the holiday stuff away, did grocery shopping, made chicken salad and hard-boiled eggs, and um, well, I guess that's it.

So far. I may have to nap before I think about anything else.

Happy birthday Mom!

1/4/13
I hate clothes shopping, but I managed to make out OK at the mall today. I went to Scottsdale Fashion Square to spend a gift card from Mom to Anthropologie (a store I love but can't afford) and a gift card from Dad for Macy's (a store that has always just overwhelmed me). I came home with a lightweight bathrobe from Anthropologie, and a little black dress and two tops from Macy's. And, of course, I went to the LUSH store for bath bombes and shower gel. Yum.

I managed to get all of the ornaments off the tree (with a little help from the kittens) and am slowly un-decorating. I also - miracle of miracles - dusted part of the house today. I woke up and noticed that the bedroom ceiling fan (which has been off of late) was covered in dust, so I had to take care of that. I also changed the batteries in the smoke detectors.

1/3/13
It was such a busy work week, that when I got home Wednesday morning, I went to bed and woke up 20 hours later (minus bathroom breaks). Since it was 3am, I had nothing else to do but take a bath, eat breakfast, and go back to bed until 10am. Things to do! People to see! Going to Elizabeth's later to celebrate her birthday, but before that I need to go grocery shopping and get the oil changed in my car.

Today is two years since I moved out here. Jan 3rd 2011 was when I climbed into the UHaul and drove right over a giant snowbank in our driveway in NJ. I didn't think I'd love it this much, or that I'd buy a house! Adopting two kittens? Yeah, that I foresaw.

1/2/13
Happy New Year, a day late.
