Right - check the calendar to make sure the Judaism class is actually taking place today. Check. And do it BEFORE driving down to Elberon. Check. Ah well - it was nice weather for a drive, and I stopped at the mall on the way home. At Old Navy, I actually found a bolero-type sweater that's kind of what I've been looking for for years! So I bought it in black and cream. Perfect to wear over sassy dress-up dresses.

Tomorrow - Monday - the last day of the month, and the first day of the (last) semester. I can't believe how fast time has flown by.

Why is it snowing again? I thought we were done!

1/25/05
NOW I'm finished with Nursing V - did my computer time makeup day today, and had my evaluation.

And hey, we're getting more snow tonight.

1/22/05
Snow! And lots of it - about a foot today, and it's supposed to get worse overnight. They asked if anyone wanted to stay and work, altho the entire night shift made it in on our floor (to much cheering). The supervisor also said that if anyone wanted to stay over and sleep at the hospital, they were going to open the Day Surgery suites, which have beds etc, and the kitchen so we could eat. I declined, I want to sleep in my own bed. Luckily, a coworker and classmate of mine had a shovel and helped me dig my car out of the lot (they plowed us in), and then I shoveled the driveway at home (it was plowed in, too), and here I am.

And off to bed.

1/20/05
I'm still not used to writing "05" for the year.

And happy birthday, Michelle!

Today was our last "real" class day, tomorrow is evaluations. I - having stayed home yesterday with a nose that wouldn't stop running and a migraine from hell - have to go in on Tuesday too, to do some make-up time on the computers. And then - the last semester!

Bizarre weekend of work. Weird to start with, because this isn't my usual weekend. But I wanted last Saturday off, so I traded with Karen, and worked for her on Sat. And since I didn't have anything except Judaism class (LOVE IT) on Sunday, I offered to work as well. So Sat was alright, worked on Telemetry and we were so busy that time just flew by. Came home, slept. Sunday was class (did I mention that I love it?) and then work on the 3rd floor. It was me and Carol, another aide, working - and she had worked the morning shift so was tired already. Another day of running around, not having enough help, call bells going off everywhere. And then at 10.30pm, one of my patients stopped breathing and had to be coded - and didn't make it. 62 years old. It was my first death of a "young" patient, and the first time I had to deal with the family coming in and their grief. I didn't leave until 12.30am. And today at work was another nutsy busy day on 2B - geriatrics. Love the floor, but it was just me and the nurse. One died at 4pm, another went to the nursing home, and then we got four admissions to the unit to fill up our empty beds.

It's just nuts.

Happy birthday, Biff!

And happy (sort of) last day of classes! We have two or three days next week to finish up presentations (which yes, means I have to put mine together since I haven't gone yet, but that's what Monday is for) and do our course and clinical evaluations, and then the semester is officially over. Whew.

1/13/05
Hallelujah - today was the last day of clinical for the semester. One more exam, two presentations and the course eval to go, and then a week off before Nursing VI.

We were in Robert Wood today, a hospital I could easily get lost in - and did. But in good news, I saw my future husband while we were in the SICU on Tuesday. Now, if only I had managed to get his name or say hello or anything like that. I did manage to swoon, but it was internal, so there was no chance of hitting my head and his helping me to the Trauma room.

Well, AC would have been super - except for a few things:

Otherwise, it was a blast.

But what was really a blast was the first session of the Intro to Judaism class I'm taking. It's going to be amazing. Rabbi Cy, at the temple I've been going to, is a terrific teacher and - just like in services - really makes everything relevant and fun. Very exciting. And the other nine people in the class seem like great, intelligent people, too. It's nice to be somewhere where all of the people are so motivated and ready to be there.

Altho I'm still sketchy on the whole revelation of the Torah to Moses at Mt. Sinai. Did God throw down some tablets, or was it dictated? And how did Moses feel, having his future actions (and death!) told to him? I'm still of the mind that the entire bible - Torah included (which is the first five books of the Old Testament) was cobbled together over time from oral stories passed down. I mean, it was edited, yes, but that the content wasn't some written tablet to begin with - more along the lines of the Iliad/Oddessey sort of thing.

1/8/05
Happy birthday Mom!! In celebration of this joyous date, I have taken off from work (well, switched days with Karen, really) in order to spend some quality time in AC. Unfortunately, Mom, you will be sleeping, so Tesse has volunteered to take your place.

I have to remember to go ahead in my checkbook and write "2005" on all of the checks.

1/5/05
I can't believe it's 2005. I graduate this year!

New Year's Eve was spent with the gang at Marie's, and then Missy Mink and I went up to her fabulous apartment to watch Love Actually with the commentary track. Well, nearly. We were both dozing off about 15 minutes into it, so we decided sleep was in order instead. It was a really fun night, and we all dressed up to the nines.

Not much new elsewhere - school is back in session, this semester ends on the 21st, and then we have a week off before Nursing VI starts. And then state convention in Feb, spring break in March, national convention (Salt Lake City) in April, health fair after that, and a nice slide into June for graduation and the state boards. Whew.
