2/25/13
Leaving on a jet plane - tomorrow morning, that is, right after work.

2/22/13
It's Spring! The Mariners are losing! It's not raining!

Life is good.

It was lovely to be at the ballpark today, watching real baseball. It was a mild 60 degrees (too cool to sit in the shade, just right for lounging on the lawn). I stayed for about four innings (I was tired, as I couldn't fall asleep til like 4am last night, I was up reading), took a photo with the Mariner Moose, walked around the entire stadium, and generally soaked up the sunshine.

Supposed to snow on the east coast this weekend. Of course. I was going to wear my new sassy black lace-trimmed dress to the Carousel concert, but I've opted for my yellow and black minidress over leggings, with a jacket, instead. My winter coat is already in my car so I don't forget it. I'm leaving for the airport right from work Tuesday morning, so I'm trying to get all packed now. I'd like to go somewhere where all I need is flipflops and a bathing suit. Hrm. Pool. It'll be 80 next weekend here in Phoenix, the pool may need to be explored.

Neck still annoyingly sore. It's either a really bad muscle strain from the fall last week, or some insidious form of meningitis. Let me cough on you.

2/20/13
Today is cold - 48. Brr. Apparently there was a snow flurry in Scottsdale! I wish I'd been awake to see it, that's crazy. And of course NYC/NJ is expecting snow this weekend, just in time for me to fly in next Tuesday.

Spa tomorrow - for a coconut scalp massage and a hot stone massage. Hopefully that'll cure the rest of the aches and pains. My neck has been stiff since Monday morning - after trying ice, heat, Icy Hot, Motrin, Tylenol and Percocet, I finally hooked up the TENS unit and that helped. Should have gone for that first! The scalp massage will lull me off to bliss.

2/17/13
Owwie. All my bones hurt from the fall. I was more embarrassed than in pain when it happened, but now that I've had a day or so to recover, I'm aching all over. Motrin and percocet time. And sleep - at least until I have to go back to work tonight.

Did I mention it was 80 degrees yesterday? That almost makes up for the aches.

2/15/13
Every time I go to Tucson, I say to myself, "self, spend more time here." I really like the city, it's older than Phoenix and more artsy. More fun shopping. I had such a great trip. Of course I stopped at El Guero Canelo for a Sonoran dog on the way to town. How could I not? Then I did some shopping along 4th Ave - found some tin mirrors (small ones, I can only ever find big ones in Phoenix) and quail doo-dads. Since I had time to kill, I drove ten miles out of town to the San Xavier del Bac Mission, aka the "White Dove of the Desert." The church is smaller than I expected, and every inch of the interior is painted and sculpted and restored beautifully.

But the main reason for the trip - Nathan Gunn! After getting lost on the U of A campus due to construction, I finally found the concert hall. Bliss. He sang a series of German lieder (and the folks next to me, who were German, said his pronounciation and diction were fantastic) and then a set of English songs. Swoon. I saw in the program that he was giving a master class today - free to the public! I planned on going, but when I woke up this morning, I was too tired to go, so I slept a little later and drove back to Phoenix. On the way to the freeway, I passed a new bridge in Tucson - the Rattlesnake Bridge. I stopped to take a few pictures, and was standing on a concrete bench that was a lot further from the ground on one side than on the other. Found that out the hard way when I stepped off it into thin air and landed on my hands/knee/belly. After I caught my breath and put my car's first aid kit to use cleaning up, THEN I drove back to Phoenix. No traffic at all.

I met up with cousin Marie for lunch and a bookstore trip, and now I'm catching up on errands.

2/14/13
Happy first birthday to Toby and Claire! And happy Valentine's Day (or "singles awareness day")! In just a little bit, I'm off to Tucson to get some Sonoran hot dogs, do some window shopping, and see Nathan Gunn in concert.

2/11/13
Heard the shocking news last night that my friend Jason Cook passed away. He was a regular at Marie's around the same time I was, and we'd lost touch. Very, very sad.

I'm going to Tucson on Thursday (happy Valentine's day to me) to see Nathan Gunn in concert. I was wavering about going, but made up my mind.

2/8/13
Blizzard to slam the east coast? I'll be hunkered down in front of the Weather Channel with some popcorn.

Irene and I went to see Order, Chaos, and the Space Between, the new exhibit at the art museum. Stunning, especially the butterflies. Buying a membership to the museum was such a great idea.

2/7/13
My nail tech told me I looked like I lost weight. It must be the SHORTS I'm wearing. Enjoy the snow, east coast. May Boston get hit the worst.

I went to see Les Miz at the movies again (with my free pass), and I enjoyed it a lot more this time. I think I was disappointed the first time because I thought it was going to be wonderful, and I went in this time knowing what to expect. Not wonderful, but better.

later on 2/6/13
Wow, there's a lot of dust in my house. Margarita and I cleaned it - and I actually did the dusting and vacuuming and some of the mopping. It looks great, it really does.

Next month, we're going to do it again.

Prior to the great cleaning of the house, I picked up Irene at the Ford place (where her car was getting looked at), and we did some hiking in the White Tank mountains in Verrado. So beautiful, and perfect walking weather. We also stopped at the pool/fitness center downtown - which has changed from a "health club that was renting out the space," to a "community center with free access for residents," so we picked up our member cards. Pool lounging, here we come.

And now, I would like to go to bed.

2/6/13
Wow. One year ago today I moved into my house. Still amazed that I have a house of my own. It's awesome. To celebrate, I'm having it cleaned. My coworker offered (she does housekeeping in her spare time), so I took her up on the offer to come by later today and clean it head to toe.

2/5/13
Happy birthday to my favorite - and only - brother.

2/2/12
What's that, groundhog? Twelve more days until pitchers and catchers? OK!

2/1/13
It's hard to sleep when all four cats conspire against you.

Making paella today (so much better with real chorizo sausage), the house smells nice and spicy.

February marks the one-year anniversary of moving into my house (I can't believe it), the one-year birthday of the kittens, the two-year anniversary of being at my job, and my brother's birthday.
