So far, so good! I had last weekend off to readjust my sleep schedule, and I've managed to get to work by 7am every day so far. All three days so far. Loving the new job, it's great to be able to focus on the clinical operations and not take on a patient assignment as well. Fingers crossed that it continues to be so enjoyable!

I signed up with 23 and Me to see how my genetics roll. I sent in my saliva specimen (and just got an email yesterday that they received it) and it takes 6-8 weeks to process and generate reports. I'm fairly certain my genes are pretty awesome. They collect data (via DNA and user surveys) for research, which is terrific. I'm excited.

I've been sitting on some big work news for a few weeks, and now I can announce it. I was asked to join the nursing management team at my current facility. It means leaving the night shift and working days (most likely starting at 7am, eek), and focusing on the clinical side of nursing operations, something I love. I'm very excited about the promotion, and I hope I contribute to the success of our facility. I start Monday.

Telluride was pretty, but it wasn't my favorite part of the roadtrip. Ouray, CO, was - that's where I stayed. It's a little town an hour from Telluride, in a box canyon surrounded by mountains. I stayed at a lovely B&B, slept with the windows open, and enjoyed the cooler weather. So it was about 10 hours driving to get there. On the way out, I drove up through Flagstaff, then over to New Mexico and stayed overnight in Gallup, NM (because I was driving after working the night shift), and meandered my way to Ouray (via Shiprock, a gorgeous rock formation on the Navajo rez) on Tuesday. CO is gorgeous, especially driving in the San Juan mountains. I stopped in Durango and Silverton, both forme mining towns, to walk around and grab food. And then I stayed for two nights in Ouray, and daytripped to Telluride. Ouray has natural hot springs, which I didn't check out, but I sure will on a future trip. On the way back, I drove straight through from Ouray back to Buckeye, and stopped at Four Corners National Monument along the way.

I find myself with a week off from work and an "extra" paycheck coming up. Roadtrip! I want to go to Telluride, CO, which looks beautiful. So I looked at the weather forecast - 80% of rain! But 63 degrees... that could be nice.

The 2016 election season can't come - and go - fast enough!

8/3/16
The monsoon season is upon us, which means it's humid this week. A little cooler, but humid. I need to start planning my "weekends" away to coincide with the monsoon. Yeesh.

One of the perks of working nights is that I get to sleep through the hot parts of the day. It truly does make a difference.
