4/26/13
The concert of Carousel - the one with Nathan Gunn and Kelli O'Hara, that I went home for in Feb - was on PBS tonight. It sounded just as good, and it was nice to see what people actually looked like! Despite new lenses in my glasses, I still can't see. Phooey.

And despite saying I would never go back home in the humidity (I also said I would never go home in the winter, but see the above paragraph), Nathan is doing Camelot at Glimmerglass this summer. Hrm. Musical theatre by the lake AND the Hall of Fame? I might need to make that happen.

4/25/13
Coworker Brian and I have been walking (briskly) after work this week, so I haven't gone to the gym. We do about four miles a day, about an hour. I picked up an app for my iPhone that tracks miles via GPS, and maps where you walk/run/whatever. It's pretty cool - and good exercise. It's the perfect temperature to walk after work - soon it'll be 95 at 6am and no fun at all, so I've got to get it in now. I like walking outside much more than on the treadmill. I think an hour on the treadmill would bore me to tears.

4/22/13
This has been such a long week/weekend. I just want to climb into bed and sleep. I tried to do that today but kept waking up with weird dreams. Maybe tomorrow after work I'll just pop my sleeping pill as soon as I walk in the door and hope it helps. I am just worn out.

4/20/13
Glad they caught the bombing suspect alive.

4/17/13
Lovely day off with no plans. So I dozed on the patio. I blocked off the gaps under the backyard gates, and let the cats go explore. Better than catnip - all four of them had a blast wandering around the yard and soaking up the sun. Kind of like me. Lazy day.

I've been going to the gym after work, it's getting enjoyable. I picked up an overtime shift for tomorrow night, so I'll go to the gym again on Friday after work.

4/16/13
I am horrified at what happened in Boston, and glad all my MA friends in the area are OK. Horrified.

4/14/13
Savanah has reappeared at Mom's door, what a relief! I hope she learned her lesson about ducking out the open door. So happy.

4/12/13
It was missing cat day yesterday. In NJ, Savanah is nowhere to be found - it's unlikely that she got outside, but Mom can't find her. I hope she turns up, wonder where she got to.

And then, I climbed into bed and Pippin jumped in with me. All of a sudden, Pippin climbed onto the dresser in front of the bedroom window (which she never does), and meowed. And then I saw a white blur jump up on the outside of the window as if trying to come in. I ran outside and it was Claire! Outside! After looking around, it appears that she and Toby manageed to get one of the living room screens off its track, and she made it outside. I set it back in place and will be sure to lower the windows before I go out. Soon, it'll be hot enough that I'll have the windows closed and the AC on anyway.

I took my car in for an oil/brake fluid/transmission fluid change yesterday, and also wound up with a new battery (mine failed some test) and a new brake light. Since it took a few hours to get all that done, I killed the time by going to the spa for a massage and facial. It's maybe a mile from the Ford place to the spa, so I walked it. Am now enjoying blisters on the balls of both feet from walking it in the wrong shoes. Ow.

4/9/13
I'm getting into this gym thing. As long as I go right after work. If I stop home and take my shoes off, my day is over. So I go right after work, change into my gym clothes, hop on the treadmill to warm up, with my music blaring and my legs working. It feels terrific. So far.

The other part of losing weight is to cut out carb. Aaaaaaaaah. Tuna pasta!

4/5/13
The Phoenix Art Museum had a thing about floral arrangements based on works of art (called, appropriately, "Arts and Flowers"), so after the gym this morning, Irene and I went to check it out. Very pretty!

4/3/13
How else to spend a day off? By running around. To the gym after work, then to pick up my glasses frames (with the news lenses), to Bed Bath and Beyond, to Lowe's and finally to the nail place. I think I am finally ready to veg out on the couch and watch the Yankees game.

And happy birthday, two days late, to Pippin, who is ten years old and twenty pounds heavy.

later on 4/1/13
I did exactly what I said I was going to do. Watched the depressing Yankees game - highlighted only by Francisco Cervelli getting the only RBI's for the team, napped til 5pm, and went to the DBacks game (which was much more exciting, except for the crowd, which was just... crowded).

4/1/13
It's Opening Day/Night! If it's wrong to take the night off from work so I can watch the Yankees game and then go to the DBacks game, then I don't want to be right. Gotta nap in between games.

I got off my lazy ass and went to the gym after work this morning. I have to go right after work or I'll never go. Once I sit down on my couch or take off my sneakers, that's it. I'm done for the day.
