4/28/12
There and back agin - a quick overnight to Tucson for the tour of In the Heights. I'd like to spend more time in Tucson, because I always get lost there. And there are so many more things I want to see down south. I did, of course, get to El Guero Canelo for two Sonoran hot dogs (you had me at "wrapped in bacon") - as delicious as I remembered!

4/26/12
I can tell I have family in town - it was cool and rainy this morning! High of 80 today, which is a nice break. I have the windows open and the AC off.

Anyway, Uncle Bob and Aunt Patty are doing an Arizona RV-camping trip, and they arrived in the Phoenix area last night (with rain). We had a mini-family reunion with Marie (Uncle Bob and Mom's cousin) and her grandson Chris (who I just call cousin, because it makes things easier) and Chris and Staycie's daughter Emma. Pizza at the delicious place downtown (nice thin crust). So good. And so good to have family over!

4/22/12
Booked my room at the Arizona Biltmore for my birthday. For the week before, actually, since there's a nursing meeting on my actual birthday, and this year I will not interrupt my lounging-by-the-pool time to go to it.

It hit 104 today - a new Phoenix record for this day. And yet, Yankees/Red Sox got rained out in Boston. I am quite pleased with my move to the desert.

4/20/12
Happy ten year anniversary to Pete and Corrie.

The painter guy came over to re-caulk and re-paint, much better. I turned the AC on (set to 82), with the ceiling fans, the house is super-comfy. It's supposed to be 98 today and 101 tomorrow. My plan for the rest of the day is to watch the Fenway Park 100th birthday celebration stuff, and then the Yankees/Sox game (it starts at noon local time). Then off to the DBacks/Braves game tonight, if I'm still awake!

4/19/12
How much do I love Spirit Airlines $89 round trip airfares to Vegas? So much that I went yesterday and came back today. Hate the no leg room, tho. But on the way back (the entire 55 minute flight) there was no one else in my row, so I stretched out.

96 degrees today.

4/17/12
I'm trying out the central air before it hits 98 degrees this weekend. It works.

Some of the caulking around my doors has dried faster than they expected, so the painting guy is coming on Friday to re-caulk the joints.

Went to JCP (what, I don't mind them) and found two sassy sundresses (and a third that fit perfect but I wasn't crazy about the color, so I didn't buy that one) and some sassy flipflops. I am ready for summer.

4/16/12
I love Mondays, because it means my long shifts at work are over. I don't have to hop right into bed like I do on Sundays. Instead, I can spend some quality time doing something productive, like making meatballs for spaghetti sauce.

4/13/12
I love the spa. My masseuse did wonders with my neck, and the facial woman did wonders with my skin, which feels more hydrated and smooth. Love love love. I told them both that the only thing that could make it better would be to be on the beach in Fiji, getting pampered outside with a warm breeze blowing. No disagreements there.

It didn't rain at the Yankees home opener. That's because I'm in Arizona, and it's supposed to rain (maybe) tomorrow (here).

4/12/12
Woke up in the middle of the night with a migraine, went right back to bed. That kind of sums up my day off. I was somewhat productive - booked my catsitter for my trip east in May, and met with Doug, who helped me get the house and is going to design my backyard landscaping. Now I just have to save up the money to actually get it done.

4/9/12
I put my 2012 Obama/Biden sticker on my car, right next to the Yankees sticker. That ought to get the car vandalized in some form. Now all it needs is a gun control sticker. Preferably in Spanish.

Booked a massage and facial at the spaaaaaaah for Friday (the 13th), gotta get my relaxin' on, what with the Yankees in last place.

later on 4/6/12
Well, Mariano blew the save and the Yankees lost, but the DBacks won a nail-biter. So it's a bittersweet Opening Day. But it was so nice to be back to Chase Field, except of course for the crowds and the crazy long lines at the Cold Stone Creamery stands (hence, I did not have ice cream).

4/6/12
Today is the *real* Opening Day for me. Yankees/Rays on TV at noon, then DBacks/Giants live at Chase Field at 4pm. Time to sit back and relax.

4/4/12
My joy over it being Opening Day is muted by the news that Francisco Cervelli was optioned down to AAA, so the Yankees could hire some backup catcher no one ever heard of. I'm going to go cry now.

However, the rest of the day was good. My fabulous daybed bench was delivered straight to my patio (and it looks fantastic). I spread out the sleeping bag on it, which is the exact right size, and ordered the custom-sized cushion in a deep blue. Picked up some outdoor throw pillows, too, at the grocery store.

Went to the gyn - who's from New York! - and then picked up my new glasses and sunglasses. They also took my current frames to have their new lenses fitted. The new lenses are "HD Lenses," which I'd never heard of, but I'm just happy to be seeing more clearly all around.

Time for baseball - see you in October.

4/3/12
First day giving Mimi her thyroid medicine. The pharmacy says it's "tuna flavored," but I'm not sure she thought so. It's every twelve hours - I'd better check with my catsitter to make sure that's OK with her for when I go home in May.

4/2/12
This is perfect weather for napping outside. My daybed frame will be delivered on Wednesay - until I get the cushion for it, which is being custom made because of the size of the frame, I will totally throw my sleeping bag on it and doze away.

Exchanged all the DBacks tickets that I can't use, to get tickets for games I *can* use. My AZ cousins and I will be at the DBacks/Mets game in July. Since the Mets season should be over by then, we can just sit back and relax and not worry about the actual game. And this coming Friday is Opening Day! I'm really looking forward to getting back to the games.

I saw a broken quail this morning at work. It was hopping when the others were walking. Poor baby.
